Did you know the Museum of Islamic Art was designed by the same architect, who designed the Louvre Pyramid? Or that when the National museum of Qatar was first opened it didn’t have a collection to display?
If you want to fall in love with Qatar, the unique place where we live, listen to our guest
Dr. Mariam Al-Mulla. She is  a cultural researcher at Qatar University, a former director of Qatar National Museum, a curator and organizer of many exhibitions, an art historian, a  museologist and much more. There is a special kind of place. A place we usually go to on a school trip, often visit as tourists when traveling to other countries. We know they’re important, but often don’t visit them in our own hometowns.

Museums are meant to make a community.

They are a non-profit institution built to preserve our culture, to share it with us, to provide us with means of discussion and reflection on who we are. With our guest Safa Arshad, we’ll find out what the museums of Doha have for us to learn.

For large portion of time there was virtually one way most people could see the world outside of their hometown. They couldn’t go to far off places but they could see those places through the eyes of a travel photographer. Someone brave who took on a risky journey, brought a camera and captured the world for them to see.

These days everybody takes pictures and most of us even travel occasionally. Does that make us all travel photographers? Not really. Apparently there’s something more to it. What exactly is that we’ll find out with the help of our guest Lubaib Gazir, a travel photographer based in Doha.
