With so many people being affected by cancer in different ways these days, either through knowing someone close to them, a friend of a friend, or actually having cancer themselves, it’s not something you can ignore, and it won’t  go away if we stick our heads in the sand. Self testing and regular check-ups are important for all of us and Breast Cancer Awareness Month is great reminder about taking care of ourselves and the importance of supporting others.

Listen to our inspirational special guest Sandee Thompson, who took on breast cancer herself and walked away with a bilateral mastectomy. Sandee shows us that if you are diagnosed with the Big C, it’s not the end of the world, and can in fact be a new beginning. Sandee can be contacted directly at sandee_t@yahoo.com

If you have been in Qatar for over a year or so you would understand that sometimes finding things in shops or knowing what the procedure is with official paperwork can be a little frustrating at times and confusing, so generally you turn to your work colleagues or friends for help and advice. Now there is a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/579287658767294/  and website https://wwhidoha.com/ When, Where & How in Doha which brings together the Qatar community to help each other with relevant information you want to know. Sean Garret founding partner talks to @dohaheat about how the Facebook page came about, the amazing response from the Qatar community, the strange questions and the future for the Facebook site & website.

These long summer holidays really do not lend themselves to sustaining a podcast, huh? We return with a new episode, which features some familiar voices: Producer Andrew Clark and Ginger Camel Managing Director Stefan Lindberg-Jones. The two discuss how the podcast got started, its ups and downs, and the next chapter.

Special thank you to all of our listeners; without you all the podcast would never have made it this far. Do not be shy about getting in touch if you would like to be a potential guest.

See you around the sandbox. - Andrew

Good things come to those that wait, right? We are back after a lengthy absence because life sometimes gets in the way of side hustles. This episode introduces us to Professor Anne Sobel, who is an accomplished independent filmmaker and is currently working on a graphic novel. Her latest project focuses on a story involving elements of fantasy and female empowerment, all set in the GCC.

A man. An Instagram page. And lots of ambition - these things aptly sum-up today's guest, Mohannad Bitar. Wanting to show the world Qatar's diversity of experiences and scenery (hold the desert and mall jokes), Bitar launched an Instagram account focused on these things, which has grown exponentially in less than a year. The interview delves into what sustains his passion for this project and where he hopes to take it next.
