We know they’re important, but often don’t visit them in our own hometowns. Museums are meant to make a community. They are a non-profit institution built to preserve our culture, to share it with us, to provide us with means of discussion and reflection on who we are. For large portion of time there was virtually one way most people could see the world outside of their hometown. They couldn’t go to far off places but they could see those places through the eyes of a travel photographer. Someone brave who took on a risky journey, brought a camera and captured the world for them to see. These days everybody takes pictures and most of us even travel occasionally. Does that make us all travel photographers? Not really. Apparently there’s something more to it. Born in Doha, and raised in the UK, Tamara Hasan is the perfect example of turning an idea into reality. After a friend fractured his arm and had nowhere to turn to in terms of physiotherapy, she saw a need and raced to fill it. In 2015, Tamara Hasan co-founded the International Physiotherapy Centre here in Doha, Qatar and she didn’t stop there. One year later, she found her and her team opening a second location. Fast forward to today, and she has now opened the International Medical Centre, a practice where you have your own family practitioner. Striving to give medical care a more personal feel, Tamara is hopeful that the newly opened International Medical Centre will provide just that. So join Tamara and her team on their journey, as they strive to take healthcare and rehabilitation to the next level, here in Doha, Qatar.

In 2010 while visiting his parents here in Qatar, Canadian Sameer Ali realized something was terribly wrong. A short flight to his native India and a few tests after, the unexpected was confirmed - he had been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. After chemotherapy and a 6 month stay, he was free of cancer and back to Canada, only to learn his cancer had returned. Fast forward to 2016, and a few mountains later, Sameer is a true testament to how a positive attitude can overcome anything.

A four month time frame, books in hand and a hope to spread her love of education, Fiona soon realized her true life's purpose. Nearly five years and five separate initiatives later, she shows no signs of slowing down. Join Fiona on her journey as she aids the children of Borno and internally displaced persons (just to name a few), rebuild their lives after fleeing the terrors of Boko Haram.
